MASK OFF! Removing the Mask to Uncover the Uniqueness of the Divine Within "Know Thyself" in 3 Steps
1.) Don’t conform.
It is an unfortunate reality that we are living in a society where people have to conform with the herd mentality in order to feel accepted and taken care of by others. Instead of being urged to discover our uniqueness and do our best to cultivate our individuality, society pushes us to become carbon copies of others and this puts a lot of burden on our psyche, not allowing to express our authenticity and hence live the way we truly desire to live. So how can you be your true self when you are almost always pushed to conform? In order to be authentic, the first step you need to take is to stop conforming to tradition or the collective mind. Doubt your traditional beliefs, schooling, and knowledge — and start your own quest for truth from scratch. "Don't go where the path may lead, create a new path and leave a trail!"
2.) Stop caring about what others think.
The second main tip on how to be your true self and express your authenticity is to stop caring about what others think about you. Authentic people don’t identify themselves with the opinions others have about them — they live the way they think is best for them to live, instead of living the way others think is best for them.
You and only you can know what is good for you, and only by living the way you truly desire to live, will you be able to be true to yourself and care-free. So from now on, do your best to find and follow your bliss, no matter what other people think. Besides if everyone took the time to focus on their own personal authenticity there wouldn't be much time to distract others from being their true selves.
3.) Speak your truth.
Last but not least, in order to embody your true self and express your authenticity, you need to speak out the truth, always being honest with yourself and others, no matter what.
Many of us don’t dare to speak openly and honestly, but instead choose to lie to others so as to hide our true thoughts and emotions. This, however, is harming both ourselves and our relationships with others. From today, be sure to always speak the truth, even if it goes against the interests of others. This might turn many old friends of yours into enemies, but it’s the only way to find out the people who love you unconditionally, and will help surround yourself with a few yet true friends that will accept and like you just the way you are.
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”
