SALON AMBIANCE IN FALLS RIVER RAISES MONEY FOR FOR CHILD CRITICALLY INJURED IN CRASH
A group of Fall River hair stylists are offering their services during the weekend to raise money for a 10-year-old girl who was critically injured in a crash.
Salon Via, Salon Ambiance and Next Level will host a Style-a-Thon Sunday to benefit Avah Carreiro.
The child is suffering from a brain injury after a crash on Route 6 in Westport on June 24. Her mother, Monique Medeiros, was also injured in the crash. Carriero has been in the ICU at Hasbro Children’s Hospital ever since.
"It was just an easy decision to make as far as wanting to help Monique,” Salon Via owner Kelly Vieira said about organizing the event. Vieira said hair and skin services will be available at a discounted price and people can participate in raffles. All money raised will go to Avah’s family to aid in her recovery and pay for medical bills.
Vieira said the outpouring of support from the community has been incredible. The community has sold ”Avah Strong” bracelets, held a vigil, lemonade stand, among other events to raise money for and support the family. “This alone has been such a miracle to watch people just get together,” Vieira said. “It’s a lot of people who have never even met Monique or Avah.”
The events are being held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at Salon Via, 266 Alden St.; Salon Ambiance, 138 Fulton St.; Next Level, 618 Bedford St.
Donations will also be accepted at Beauty Bar, LeDoux and Company and Chic Salon.
